Biz Kellam is an O‘ahu portrait photographer serving Honolulu and communities across the island, creating professional headshots, branding content, and generations family portraits with calm direction, visual strategy, and finished artwork in mind.
My work is designed for people who care how they are seen, how their story is remembered, and what their portraits will mean years from now.
Yes, Biz is really my name. And the work behind it carries weight.
It’s not just a play on the word “business,” even though I get that joke all the time. I’ve been called Biz since I was a kid, short for Elizabeth.
Only the IRS still calls me Elizabeth.
And growing up, “Elizabeth” was usually followed by, “Just wait until your father gets home.”
Why This Work Matters
When my mom died, all I wanted were family photographs from when I was growing up.
There was one shoebox. Just one.
I don’t want that to happen to you.
The photographs I do have are how I still feel my family with me. That understanding guides every portrait I create, whether I’m photographing a professional who needs to be seen with confidence, a business building visual trust, or generations of a family gathered with parents, grandparents, children, and kūpuna.
A portrait is not just proof that you were there. It is how people remember your presence, your work, your love, and your place in their lives.
What I Create
I create photographs that go far beyond “smile for the camera.”
For professionals, that may mean a headshot that feels confident, current, and trustworthy. For business owners and entrepreneurs, it may mean branding photography in Honolulu and across O‘ahu, creating a custom visual marketing library for your website, social media, press features, and client communications.
For families, it means Generations portraits that preserve parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and kūpuna in finished artwork and custom legacy albums made to be lived with, not lost in a phone.
The goal is not a trendy image. The goal is an accurate one. Something that feels like you, carries meaning, and still matters years from now.
How I Work
Before photography became my full-time focus, I lived a few professional lives that taught me how to read people quickly, stay calm under pressure, and pay attention to the details most people miss.
I competed internationally as a speed skier, finishing 9th overall in the Women’s Speed Skiing World Cup, and later became the first female Operations Director for a ski area in North America. That kind of work does not reward panic, sloppy judgment, or hoping things magically work out. Annoying, but true.
I also built a background in graphic design, web development, marketing, and commercial photography, including architecture, food, products, branding, and portrait work. That means I look at your images as both photographs and communication tools.
Today, that experience shapes every session I create. Your portrait is planned, directed, and refined so you do not have to perform, pose, or pretend. You only have to show up, and I will guide the rest.
Calm direction is not an accident. It is part of the work.
My work is intentionally unhurried.
I photograph professionals, business owners, families, and generations in a calm, respectful, and natural way. Most of my clients do not love being photographed, which is exactly why I guide the process from start to finish.
Every session is thoughtfully planned, from preparation and location to body language, expression, image selection, and final use. For some clients, that means a confident professional headshot. For others, it means a visual marketing library for their business, or finished artwork and legacy albums for generations of their family.
The result is not just a flattering portrait. It is an image that feels honest, grounded, useful, and worthy of lasting beyond the moment it was made.
