Biz Kellam is a portrait photographer on O‘ahu who works with professionals, families, and elders, specializing in headshots, branding portraits, and multi-generation family photography that becomes heirloom wall art and legacy albums.
Yes, Biz is really my name. And the work behind it carries weight.
It’s not just a play on the word “business,” even though I get that joke all the time. I’ve been called Biz since I was a kid, short for Elizabeth.
Only the IRS still calls me Elizabeth.
And growing up, “Elizabeth” was usually followed by, “Just wait until your father gets home.”
Why This Work Matters
When my mom died, all I wanted were family photographs from when I was growing up.
There was one shoebox. Just one.
I don’t want that to happen to you.
The photographs I do have are how I still feel my family with me. That understanding guides every portrait I create, whether I’m photographing a professional, a family, or multiple generations together.
What I Create
I create portraits that go far beyond “smile for the camera.”
Whether we’re creating a professional headshot, a personal brand portrait, or a family legacy session, my focus is on making you feel confident, relaxed, and truly seen. The goal isn’t a trendy image, it’s an accurate one. Something that feels like you, and still will years from now.
How I Work
Before photography became my full-time focus, I lived many professional lives. Each one taught me something essential about trust, precision, calm under pressure, and reading people quickly.
I competed internationally as a skier, finishing 9th overall in the Women’s Speed Skiing World Cup, and became the first female Operations Director for a ski area in North America. I later worked as a stockbroker and REALTOR®, where precision, trust, and results were essential.
These experiences taught me the importance of focus, excellence, and responsibility, which now guide my work behind the camera.
I started in commercial photography, focusing on architecture, food, and products. This work was controlled, technical, and emotionally neutral.
My perspective shifted when I was asked to photograph a family. I realized portraits are more than images; they are emotional records of presence, connection, and memory.
Those skills now shape every experience I create behind the camera. Sessions are intentional, unhurried, and orchestrated. So you don’t have to perform, pose, or pretend.
My work is intentionally unhurried.
I photograph professionals, families, and elders in a calm, respectful, and natural way. Most of my clients don’t love being photographed, and that’s exactly who I work best with.
Every session is thoughtfully guided, from preparation to final artwork. You won’t be rushed, posed into something that isn’t you, or left wondering what to do next.
The result isn’t just a flattering image. It’s a portrait that feels honest, grounded, and worthy of being lived with for years.
